I have been doing the Whole30 challenge for one week. The whole 30 challenge can be summed up shortly as, “Eat unprocessed food, eat veggies, eat meat, avoid dairy, avoid grains, avoid legumes, avoid sugar, eat fruit and nuts in moderation.”
It has been an interesting trek. So far I have found it easier to go on this challenge by calling it a challenge rather than a diet. I think of it as an experiment and I know it is going to end. Even though it is going to end, I am still going to make positive choices afterwards. I will just drink a beer or two. It was not fun not partaking in one of my favorite beers over the weekend. Mostly because the beer was free and offered to me.
I have turned down donuts, beer, and a lot of other free good food. The important part is I no longer just pick up food from a fast food place on the way home. That is going to save me money in the long run.
The important part of this challenge is to change my relationship to food. I still have cravings for something sweet after dinner. I have broken down a few times, however it was with a piece of fruit instead of ice cream. I think that is a step in the right direction. Next week I am going to concentrate more on not eating a piece of fruit after dinner and drink more water.
I believe this challenge will be very good for me. I believe all my challenges in my YEAR OF CHALLENGE will be good for me. Watch out this week for the underlying reason for the year of challenges.
