How Do you Escape?

Have you thought about how you spend your time? Do you spend your time in a way that serves you or hurts you?

I am reminded of one of my favorite comedians, Jim Gaffigan. He has a funny joke about McDonald’s. How McDonald’s sells billions of burgers and he hasn’t met anyone who claims to have eaten there. That there is something shameful about eating food from McDonald’s. Jim Gaffigan is a lot funnier when he tells his joke. After making us laugh with his McDonalds humor, he then hits us with the line, “Everyone has their own McDonalds.”

McDonald’s in this sense is a way that is how we waste our time. Not in the sense of using our time to recuperate or enjoyment through shows. I know Arrow on CW is not quality, however, I have a lot of fun watching it. I am more talking about watching the Cake Boss marathon on the Food Network. The type of wastes of time where you are not rejuvenating your spirit. The type of wastes of time you wonder, “Why did I spend 8 hours watching cat videos?”

This is escaping. Generally, it is done when you have something important to do that you do not want to handle right away. It is also done when you do not want to handle life anymore.

Your time is precious. Do your best to use it wisely. Time is the only resource you will never get back. When you are deliberate with your time, you can reach your dreams. Remember that.

Take time this week to look at how you spend your time. Are you enjoying what you are doing or are you putting off something that you should be doing now? There is nothing wrong with watching a television show or two, however, there is something wrong with 6 or 8. I take that back, there is something wrong if you have reached this far in this e-mail because you know you have more in this life to accomplish. You are not reading this because you want your time wasted.

Be aware of your time. Make deliberate decisions of rest and entertainment.
