Continue reading »]]> Do you want to live the best 2012 you have ever lived? Do you want amazing success in your life? Do you want to actually have the year you want to live?

After making the decision to say “YES!” to all of the questions, the next step is to write down what you want.

Script your life!

Write down your 2012 year like it was a movie script. Well not exactly like a movie script. You do not need that format. All you need to do is write down the year you want to live. The important part is to have fun. Have fun when you are writing down the life you want to live in 2012.

Write down what you want to accomplish, how you will feel when you accomplish what you want, how it will smell, how it will look like, how it will sound and how you are celebrating your wonderful life.

Notice what is not there? Nowhere did I say, “Write what you do not want.” You already know what you do not want, why put more of your energy into what you do not want. No reason to write down, “I do not want to be ______” or “I want a better _______” or “I would change _______ about my life.” Be bold enough to claim what you want! Just write it down. You know you want to!

2012 is going to be an amazing year for Brett Dupree and Joyous Expansion. My business continues to grow as I serve more and more wonderful clients. I feel wonderfully healthy as I dance to Dance Central 2 for hours! I enjoy doing over 100 push ups in  row. I am dating a wonderful woman and she might be the one! My home is clean and a perfect reflection of my clean proactive mind. Looking at my bank account fills me with joy as I watch my savings account grow and grow! 2012 is a wonderful year of wonderful and amazing growth!

telling yourself that you will only be happy until when you have completed the goal. Soon you will be looking back at your life wondering where all the time went and why you spent so little of it enjoying yourself.

If you view your goal like taking a vacation then the joy of your vacation would be getting to the end point. Which of course means that your endpoint is at home. If that is the case, why even go on vacation? That is because the fun of the vacation is the stuff in between leaving home and going back that is the point. The memories, the sights, the sounds, and the good times are the reason you go on vacation.

Switching to a more project oriented viewpoint or direction if you go by Richard Bandler‘s The Secrets of Being Happy, is that you look at your life more about how you got there. You will avoid the empty feeling that can come from reaching your goal. The, “well I did it, but now what?” You will be ready to take on the next new project.

Oh the joys of life! Of course this is build up for my next blog about building your wonderful 2012. Look forward to it. I command you! Just kidding. Also remember, don’t stop believing and hold on to the feeling.

I love reading and I love learning. Reading new books allow new perspectives.  While reading Supercoach: 10 Secrets to Transform Anyone’s Life I had one of those experiences.

The book talked about using the word project instead of the word goal. There is a lot of power in words. Think to yourself of a goal that you want to accomplish. Notice how the goal is in the future and has a failure date. Turn that goal into a project and notice how those feeling shifts. Project is something that you are working on now. Just switching the word from goal to project takes what you are working on from the future and puts it in the present.

You will also notice that it takes away the failure date. You might have dates you would like to complete the project, however a project can go on if you do not make a date. You would have to create a new goal if you do not make it. Using the word project breaks the contract of disappointment.

I am looking forward to playing around with this idea more in 2012! I am excited for next year as I am excited for today! It is all part of my projects.

Continue reading »]]> Yesterday I wrote in my blog December to Remember I wrote how December is a good time to look back and plan ahead.
What makes the look back and planning ahead valuable is the ability to be honest with yourself and have at least judgement as possible. By least judgement as possible is to not give yourself an excuse to feel bad for the things you wanted to accomplish but didn’t. To be more accurate I mean negative judgement as celebrating accomplishments is a form of judgements. Learn from your mistakes or missteps. That is how you grow as a person. Life is a practice and the way you improve anything is deliberate practice. As discussed in the book, Talented is Overrated.

You are not done with growing up as a person until you die. Making the slight adjustments will allow you to make the changes you need to live the life of your dreams. You can even make intentions out of them.

Looking at my year there are a few goals that I did not accomplish like I wanted to.  I am not where I want to be in my health, vocation and financial goals that I made last year. Luckily I realize that one of the keys to joy is to give up the illusion of being done.  That is relevant to me because I thought I have learned enough to get those areas of my life handled in 2011. What I have to learn in all three is practically the same. The remembering that life is a practice. I put to much emphasis on the results rather than the process. The process of the constant working on myself and self improvement. Hitting a wall, learning from that wall and then moving through the wall with new lessons. Without noticing I created new contracts for disappointment.

My intention is, “Through complete self love, I express my inner joy through owning the strength of my being as I continually expand my being from the inside out.”

I look forward to an amazing 2012!

Joy Increasing Action Tip #1:

Music is an awesome motivator. Even if music isn’t one of your major loves, there is nothing that can pump you up more than the right song. I know for myself, I would never say one of my main loves is music. However there are songs that bring me into a good mood.

When you are feeling blue, crank out a song and you will feel awesome again. The right song just touches your emotions and kicks it into high gear. Do not underestimate the power of a good song.

One of my favorite songs to pump me up is, “You’re the Best” by Joe Esposito from the Karate Kid Soundtrack. One of the cheesiest songs I have ever heard, however how can you not listen to this song and get pumped up? HOW CAN YOU NOT!? Try it, I dare you. You will listen to this song and then run a marathon.

Personal challenges build character or something like that. Especially when you have fun with the challenges. When you challenge yourself to do something difficult and you accomplish the challenge the feeling of pride is incredible. Doing personal challenges is a great way to grow as a person.

The key to personal challenges is to think of them as a challenge that is “win and learn” instead of “pass or fail”. Thinking of it as win and learn allows you to take the personal challenge as a positive even if you do not accomplish the challenge. Using “pass or fail” paradigm gives you an excuse to feel bad if you do not accomplish the challenge.

As a spiritual life coach, I go into the new year, I am dedicated to changes in my life to bring great change. I have gained a great awareness of who I am and where I want to be in 2011. I’m going to take me there.

I am so excited for the year 2011, because in 2011 I am going to take myself to a next level. In 2011, I am dedicated to creating not only the business that I want; I am also dedicated to being a being of pure joyous expansion. The theme for 2010 was letting go and a theme of 2011 is going to be releasing resistance and being the me that I know I can be.

One of the things that I love about the path that I am on is the fact that there is a ripple effect. It is like the world around me is a pond and the more I am the joyous person that I am the more I am throwing pebbles into the pond that is causing ripples. As the ripples flow through my life I have noticed that people around me tend to live better lives than they were before. I’ve been told by many of my friends that I have been an inspiration in bringing more positivity into their lives. That is the beauty of the world we live in. We are all connected and the more positivity you live in your life the more your ripples will affect the people around you.

The more that you live a joyous life the more you will notice how much better the world will be around you. Your friends will tell you that they have learned so much from your example and you will see how good it feels to know that you are making a positive change in people’s lives. When you live your spirituality, universal truths and values in your daily life using intentions written using my book as a template you too can be a great positive influence in peoples’ lives.

In 2011 I declare I am no longer going to be just a ripple. No longer am I going to accept making tiny waves and playing small. I am throwing boulders into the pond and creating tidal waves that will surround the world with my joy and my love. My mission is to create a legacy that will be felt by billions of people. The legacy starts in 2011.

As a spiritual life coach, I have done a good job of creating a positive ripple that has affected the world around me. My New Year’s resolution for 2011 is simple. I’m going to expand the ripple that I created into tidal waves of positive energy that will envelope this world and affect many lives.

Welcome to 2011. As with many New Years you are probably making promises to yourself that you intend to not break. This was the subject of last year’s New Years blog. Now is a good time to read how 2010 is going to be different. That information is still relevant today.

Being born in the late 70s, I always had vision of the future. Now it is 2011 and I am absolutely amazed by the fact that it is 11 years since 2000. Even though I do not have my flying car, shoes that tie themselves, a hover board, and all of the other inventions that I was promised in Back to the Future 2, I am absolutely amazed by the technological advances that exist in my time. In fact, I am actually talking into my computer using Dragon NaturallySpeaking to write this blog. It is like I am on Star Trek saying “hey computer,” and then the computer is actually doing what I asked it to do. What a wonderful time to live.

New Year’s day is known for two things, parties and resolutions. A lot of people tend to shy away from New Year’s resolutions because they know that most people do not follow through with them. That is a mistake. At the beginning of the year there is this amazing energy for change. In your mind you are turning over a new chapter in your life. Because of this extra meaning, it is a good time to write down your desired changes for the coming year. The secret is to maintain this energy for change throughout the year. Do not take up too much at first and wear yourself out. Slowly work into your goals one at a time.

If you’re the type of person who makes a huge list on New Year’s only to feel overwhelmed and eventually just give them all up, it is time to change that nonworking habit. When you write your New Year’s resolutions this year, write them in a way that allows you to take slow and progressive steps. If you have 10 goals, write down one action that will help forward your momentum that you could do this month for each goals. Do this monthly habit increasing the amount of actions each month.

Another thing you can try is one new goal a month. Instead of having 10 goals and trying to accomplish them all in January, you can pick one goal for the month. Start the next goal in February and another goal in March and so on.. I have tried this way of goal setting for my New Year’s resolutions with great results.

Those are just two ideas that can help keep you keep your New Year’s resolutions while helping you ride the wave of the energy that is generated from the excitement of a new year.

Continue reading »]]> Spiritual Life Coach Tip: Not caring what people think about you

I was sitting outside of a Starbucks enjoying life when a man walks past me and asks me, “How is it going wild man?” I thought nothing of this. My hair is long and it can look wild. I remember a child laughing once and telling her father that my hair looked silly. It was nice that my hair could bring enjoyment to a child.

Then his friends passed by and told me, “He had no right to call you that.” Then his other friend started to give him a stern lecture for saying that to me. I was very confused. I had no idea what he told me was such an insult.

This incident reminded me that true freedom is the ability for people to tell you anything and for it not to affect you. You might be telling me right now in your head that not being affected by what people say to you is easier said than done. I am here to tell you that it is just as easy said as it is done. Not being affected is all about your belief and the story that you are willing to tell yourself.

When this stranger called me a wild man, I did not make a story on how he was insulting me. That is why it was not an insult. To be insulted I would have to go into my brain and use my past experiences or just use this one and decide that it is an insult. In the previous sentence is the secret to not letting people bother you. I have to go into MY brain and look at MY past experiences or use MY interpretation of the current experience. How I react to that incident was all about me. It had nothing to do with what the man said. He just said a bunch of words. The words are given meaning by ME.

If you are in any incident, then you are the one who creates the meaning for the interaction. It is all about you. You are the one who decides you are insulted. In fact, it is impossible for someone to insult you. You can only insult yourself. They are just saying words, it is you who are taking them personal and using them as an insult.

Just like any new idea, living this way takes practice. It is much easier to let a stranger’s words bounce off than it is someone you care about. If you take the life philosophy that every word is your interpretation of the word you will feel a great weight lift off of your body. You will realize that all this time you have been living in a self created prison of insult. You have the key this entire time to leave and live a much more joyful life.

I am living true freedom as love flows through me with every interaction.
